Police have published alarming video depicting a motorist executing risky skidding techniques on a traffic circle during an unauthorized vehicle gathering, putting spectators at serious risk of injury.

A 23-year-old from the local area received a 27-week prison sentence, deferred for 12 months, after admitting to reckless operation of a vehicle.
In addition, the judge imposed a 12-month driving ban and mandated community service along with a behavioral course.

As stated by authorities, the video was captured at an illegal automobile gathering in the city on 28 December 2024, showing the individual operating a pink BMW.
“This footage demonstrates the alarming incident when a reckless driver skidded around a traffic circle at an unauthorized vehicle event, while crowds looked on despite the danger of serious injury.”

Officials stated that more than 200 offences related to illegal car meets in the area have been addressed in approximately 12 months.

Authority Comment
A police sergeant remarked: “Residents, drivers and our roads policing teams have had their fill with these groups of drivers thoughtlessly taking over public roads and parking areas and we will not tolerate it.”
He added: “They are not only a complete nuisance, but they also put themselves and uninvolved individuals at risk of severe harm.”
The statement concluded: “Our efforts will persist to take legal action against these individuals and I trust these latest incidents serve as a caution: you won’t get away with it.”
