Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
