It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her newest gem.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed her side required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as captain.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
