The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest action-packed instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for delighting in action and insanity with the same enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose work have embodied all of those things.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a new location and cast of characters in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their steady belief and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the core of people through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, ambitious style to the audience.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
