The British government is set to progress with using the entire amount of immobilized Russia's funds to bolster the Ukrainian defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this unified step would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the United States.

United Kingdom penalties have blocked more than £25bn of Russian funds since the Russian government initiated its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, previously, money sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian holdings had only been sourced from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their aim to push forward toward utilizing the full value of the seized Russia's state funds to conclude the conflict.

He noted that more restrictions soon would increase the strain on Russia.

This statement follows EU leaders convened in the Danish capital previously to consider utilizing frozen Russian holdings for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.

In the previous month, US President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to take or employ seized Russia's funds, as reported by news outlets.

The value of frozen Russia's funds in the Europe is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to take part in the weapons procurement programme

The Russian government carried out large-scale bombardments throughout Ukraine on that day, resulting in electricity outages in many areas of the capital city, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were lost their lives and at least 20 people were wounded in the attack, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a message on X after the incident, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What is required is not empty words but concrete steps - from the United States, the European Union, and the seven nations - in delivering anti-aircraft weapons and applying sanctions," he stated.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed the press he would urge Sir Keir to join the weapons procurement programme, under which partner nations buy weapons from the United States to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the UK's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he said it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the system, as well as apply additional restrictions on Russia.
